I remember some of those shows and confess to watching Lucy and Beaver reruns until I was well into my thirties. Now I watch Seinfeld reruns. :-)

I almost got a Lucy show DVD at the library the other day. The older I get the more nostalgic I seem to be.
A part two with this theme will follow soon.
I don't know if Judith has seen this or not. She usually emails me. Not on this one yet.

I love Reba!!! And I agree that she is a lot like Lucy. A little more sophisticated humor but then in the Lucy days they couldn't say pregnant or sleep in the same bed even though they were married.

I remember watching the Cartwrights on the Pondersa with my Dad and brother Bob. We loved that show and I always wanted to name my place "Pohl's Ponderosa".

I think I was the one working nights and listening to the Dean Martin show on the phone. Was I????

Okay, Here is the rest of the story. My childhood was anything but happy, and that is enough said. My grandpa bought me my first horse when I was seven yrs old. His name was King. I loved him to death. My hero was Hopalong Cassidy. I would jump on my horse and head for Calif. I wanted Hoppy to be my dad. I knew that if he were my father and grandpa was my grandpa that I would be a very happy child. then when I was twelve yrs old grandpa bought me Tawny my Arabian palamino. I loved that guy. So I would take off and try to get to Hoppy. Well, needless to say I have no sense of direction so of course it would get close to dinner time so I would turn around and come home always making plans to find Hoppy another day..Well, my big day came. To my surprise, mom said she was going to take me into Seattle to see Hoppy on Sat. WOW..that is the best thing I can remember her doing for me. Well, we made the trip. I don't recall the bldg. but it was big and there was a huge line. I waited forever. I could see him and my insides were jumping. I loved this man so much. The man with the jolly laugh and the very kind voice. When I reached him....I kissed his soft cheek..guess he hadn't been riding the range with that soft check. well guess what?? I passed out right there in front of him. They took me to a room and when I woke up there was a reporter from the PI Times,,don't remember. He said, "that anyone that loved Hoppy that much should get a second chance, since I did not remember" anything. So off I went. they told me not to kiss him this time. So as I shook his had he said,,,at this time I can't remember. If I can find the news article I will get back to you. I still think he would have been the perfect dad. Years later we were living in Olympia. I came across a article that told us where all the old movie stars lived..Hoppy lives in Palm Springs. Well I got a letter off to him in a heart beat. Just told him pretty much what I have told you..He sent two pictures signed. two hoppy coins. A note that thanked me for my heart warming letter. Pictures were signed to a very dear Judi. A few months later someone said, did you hear that Hopalong Cassidy died. Took me years to get over it. It was just like I had really lost a father..I love him to this day.
